In the talk the activities and results of the group of Fabrication and Characterization of Nanostructures at the Central European Institute of Technology (CEITEC), Brno University of Technology in the field of plasmonics will be presented. The attention will be paid to several topics covering both far-field and near-field approaches.
First, a near field technique based on aperture SNOM will be presented as a proper tool for mapping interference patterns of near fields of surface plasmon polaritons. Here, a holographic method for determining both the amplitude and phase distribution in these patterns will be shown.
Second, detection of localized surface plasmon resonances by quantitative imaging of a near-field phase distribution around plasmonic antennas using so called Coherence Controlled Holographic Microscopy (CCHM) will be presented. The exploitation of this method in 3D phase mapping of beam profiles formed by plasmonic metasurfaces will be demonstrated afterwards.
Third, mapping of localized surface plasmon modes by STEM-EELS and cathodoluminiscence in connection with verification of the Babinet principle will be discussed. Here the application of the methods with respect to detection of strong coupling effects between plasmons in antennas and some excitations in the surrounding media will be proposed.
