Optical Coherence Tomography (OCT) as real-time monitoring technology for pharmaceutical coating processes
Matthias Wolfgang
11:15 - 12:15 Wednesday 31 October 2018 PH01150

Today Optical Coherence Tomography (OCT) has become an established standard technology in medicine and clinical practice. Apart from that OCT can provide valuable insights into various biological and artificial materials across different industries when it comes to non-destructive testing. In this talk the basic principles of high speed spectral domain OCT will be discussed and how OCT can improve our understanding of processes associated with the film coating of oral solid dosage forms like tablets and pellets. Challenges of introducing and transferring such an emerging technology to pharmaceutical industry will be addressed and examples of real world application will be discussed.
