Glass ceramics are compound materials in which both an amorphous (the glassy matrix) and a crystalline (usually nanoparticles) phases are present. The fact that both the phases are completely inorganic and have similar affinity should grant better homogeneity of mechanical, electrical and optical properties, granting the possibility to exploit the advantages of both phases.
My work as PhD student focus on the characterization, mainly the electrical one, of this class of material not really studied till now and the main goal is to understand the physics behind them, maybe finding some possible application along the way.
This talk want to be a short presentation of what I did till now and it will focus on the two main arguments I have worked on: the film preparation and their electrical characterization, but I will briefly talk of also some other aspects.
