11:15 - 12:15 Wednesday 06 November 2019 PH 01 150

Photoacoustic tomography visualizes structures with optical absorption contrast that are hidden in optically opaque objects. It has great potential in medical imaging, where it can provide three-dimensional images of vasculature in biological tissue. Photoacoustic imaging uses the generation of ultrasound waves by absorption of short laser pulses. Image formation is based on tomographic reconstruction from the acquired acoustic signals measured around the imaged object. The talk will introduce photoacoustic imaging methods, highlight recent developments in biomedical imaging and will show some of the current research activities of our group related to photoacoustic tomography.
