Global trends in the transportation industry require more efficient and cleaner solutions. Most of these E-mobility solutions use lithium-ion batteries as a key component. The development of lithium-ion batteries for the electric vehicle market requires significant investment in test equipment and time to perform the necessary experimental testing and validation. This presentation will provide an overview of the various applications of battery simulation and virtualization in the development, manufacturing, and use of batteries in their first life in electric vehicles, a potential second life in energy storage, and recycling as a way to locally source materials for new batteries. From electrochemical simulation at the atomic level to data-driven analysis of electric vehicle fleets. Why does a recycled battery perform better than the original one?
